I am so excited to share with you guys a very beautiful DIY project I did today. I found a similar painting at a local boutique priced at $50! It was handmade and very cute but I thought... this looks even easy enough for me to do it (which... is saying a lot). It does require some patience when painting but it was well worth it!

Here is what you'll need:

I actually did not end up using the letter stencils on this one but I plan on using them on another canvas soon. If the picture is hard to read you need:
a blank canvas
scissors
paint (any and in any color)
paint brushes (one very thin one and one wider one)
pictures

I chose these two because these are what were on the one I saw at the boutique. You can chose any that you like (I plan on doing a bike and heart soon, and just a single longhorn). It is best to chose those that have a thicker outline so it is easier to paint and trace. Also, you can easily find pictures by typing silhouette after what you're looking for (such as kitty silhouette).

Now we begin!
First start by cutting out your pictures. Make sure you make it as precise as possible. I easily get frustrated and want to cut super fast but please take your time! It is worth it :)

Optional: measure your board and make sure you place your two objects equally apart and in the center. You could also place them wherever you'd like.. I did a little of both.

Now tape down your pictures so they do not move when you trace them. It is best to use a tape that is not very sticky, like washi tape, so you can easily take it off after.

And now trace! make sure you trace as lightly as possible in case you need to erase!

The Chanel logo was a lot easier than the skull... with the skull it was easier when I cut off more of the parts so I could trace some of the more detailed parts (such as the jawline and the teeth).

You might even need to go freehand for a few pieces. It is not as scary as it sounds..!

(important side note: if you are a skilled artist you do not need to print out anything and can simply draw onto the canvas!... lucky you.)

I realized the easiest thing to do was to start painting the outline of my object then go back and paint the inside with a wider brush.

After you painted over it once you might have to go over it again - especially if you chose a lighter color like my pink. The black only needed one coat!

Painting the skull was also a lot harder. For this I used the very edge of a flatter brush which made it easier. I did not have a skinny brush which would work best. This was the main part where I began getting impatient. Having to focus so hard on tracing gave me a headache but just put on some good tunes, take a break if you need to, and listen to some N'Sync!

And before you know it, you'll be done! Now we can enjoy :)

Ezra refused to cooperate while I tried to take photos of him...

Thanks for reading & good luck!
